My entry - Quilters Blog Festival

As a newer quilter and blogger, I am still stumbling upon new blogs, and new ways to share my quilts with others in blogland.  Amy has set up an AWESOME quilter's blog festival.   I follow a couple bloggers who submitted a quilt they made...and decided to do the same.  So, here goes! :D

I am trying to make everyone in my family quilts for/by Christmas.  My sister is in love with bees, and so for her quilt I picked white/black/grey/yellow prints.  She came to visit me this past week/weekend, and so I gave her the quilt early.  She loved it. <3

Modeling the quilt

Happy as a clam, eh?

Here is the back.  I pieced the middle just to break up the grey speckled fabric.

The quilt top held up by my wonderful sisters husband.

A closer look at the design.

Closer look at the stippling.

Folded and Ready for use.

I love this quilt.  I think part of the reason it is one of my favorite so far is because of the reaction.  I gave it to them in person, and saw them use it and love it.  And since then, I have received pictures of them using it at home also. <3  It makes me happy to know that the quilt I took time creating is well loved.

I used a pattern from a magazine, and just changed it to suit my color choices.  For quilting the top, I used an all over free motion meander.  I used grey thread, because I didn't want it to be shocking on the back of the quilt.  The binding is machine sewed to the front, and hand stitched to the back.  I was actually working on this quilt while they were here - finishing up the hand stitching!! :D

Woody and Buzz!

My lovely sister and her family visited with me and mine this past week/weekend from California.  Her little man is old enough to be in love with Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.  Mine, however, isn't old enough to really care...so I easily went with making him Woody.  No complaints from him :D

My little guy was teething and in pain, so most of the pictures we got of them both in costume he is crying.  Let's all pretend he is smiling, and enjoy.

See the bribery? Dum Dum Lollipops!!!

I am very proud of both my sister and I for making these costumes! It's my first year making a costume! Let's hear it for never buying again! <3

I broke my laptop!

Ahh!! My screen is dead on my laptop!! I've got my pictures saved and backed up, so thankfully since I'm under warranty I can call and get repaired!! Phew!!
Gotta steal the desktop to put my pictures from now on.

On a happy note, I have been sewing a bunch! Got these two purses below (phone camera, can't tell if you can see them well, lol) and I've got my sisters quilt ready to bind - pictures to follow later.

Oh - and we got a design wall! Will post our how to and pictures later!! Love local quilt shops!!

Happy Quilting!!

Pinning Quilts - a family activity

Last night I was pinning this quilt, and having a terrible time.  So my lovely husband decided to take pity on me.

And with the help of my lovely assistant, we got this beauty all pinned up and ready for quilting! :D  Some days, you need to accept the offer of help...or go crazy.

My Iron Hates Me

Yes, you read that title right.  My iron hates me.  We got into an altercation this afternoon, and he came out the victor.  I have a small burn line on my inner arm.  OUCH!

I'll live, but the iron better watch his back.  I'll remember this day...

Saturday Cutting makes for Sunday Sewing

Phew what a day! I finished quilting a quilt top, and machine sewed the binding on the top. Just need to hand sew tomorrow.  Got a table runner done for fall.  And then I cut cut cut!  The hubby is cutting out 2 1/2 inch squares for a quilt he wants...and he hates it!  I chose the less frustrating route, and cut some purses I'm making for my MILs friend.

So tomorrow, while the football game is on, I can hand sew my binding and have a restful Sunday, with a sense of accomplishment!!

toilet paper roll fabric pumpkins

Aren't these cute? Just fat quarters wrapped around a toilet paper roll! Love em! My LQS had some on display, so I had to hurry home and make some myself. Now I have more pumpkin decorations - and fabric after halloween :)

My Mother's Quilt

To start - I love this quilt.  I love the colors, the pinwheels (did I mention that I am in love with pinwheels at the moment??), and the backing.  This really is a gorgeous quilt.  If I hadn't made this with my mom in mind, I'd be keeping this one!

Back of the quilt.

It's folded up yumminess.

So there it is in it's finished glory.  I did some stitch in the ditch quilting and that's all.  I didn't want to take away from the pattern and the fabrics.

Now this beauty will sit in my quilting area until Christmas time when I ship it out to my Mom.  I hope she can wait :)

It's never to early for halloween

This year, I am majorly in love with all the halloween fabrics running around.  I've picked up a couple fat quarter sets, and I think I finally made use of them all! I've made table runners, hot pads, and a mini quilt to hang on my sewing wall!

I love fall!!  I love the weather, the color of the leaves, and the yummy desserts!  I have two big bags of cooking apples, so I'll have to start whipping up some tasty treats!

In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out what to put on this table runner.  How do you like the candle?
