Snowman Mini Quilt

For our January meeting of Green Bay Modern Quilt Guild, we will be working on making these snowman mini quilts!  Last months meeting we learned how to make hexagon flowers, so the task this month was to make a white, or color of their choice, hexagon flower during the month.  I emailed out a supply list so we can create these!

Isn't he a cutie?  He is my second ever hexagon flower that I've made.  So happy we had someone demo this for us, as I've wanted to learn it for quite a while.

We will be just making the snowman and practicing applique this month at the meeting.  They will be able to add any embellishments they see fit during the month at home.  In February, we will have a drawing for those that complete their snowman mini quilt, and they will get fabric and other goodies.  It's a surprise!!

For the mini quilt I made a "faux binding", just made the backing 2 inches bigger all around and folded over the edges.  Here is a close up of the corner, I think it turned out well!

Pay it Forward

I love the thought of sharing some handmade treats with a blogging friend and also getting surprises in my mailbox to boot.  Don't you?

Are you interested in joining the Pay it Forward Handmade game?

1. I will make something for the first 3 people to comment.  It will be a surprise and arrive when you least expect it.
2. I will have 365 days to do it in.
3. You must play too! Post this on your blog after you comment on my post.  So, you must have a blog.  It doesn't have to be quilty - just a handmade gift.
4.  Feel free to join the Flickr group to see what else is being sent!
5. Follow me, if you don't already.

If you would like, in your comment include some likes/dislikes, color choices, wants, etc so I can get to know you better and send you an item suited to you.
p.s. I'm participating from Harriet Homemaker Strikes Again.

Busy busy

It was my birthday this past Saturday, so I've been busy with birthday celebrations.  Friday we had a family dinner and it was fun!  Saturday I got a date out with the hubby, which always makes for a nice time.  Sunday night we had another family dinner  :D

I've been browsing new blogs for Sew Mama Sews giveaway day.  Also been baking up a storm! After this week I will be less busy, so I can post some pretty fabrics and pictures.  <3

Quilted Name Tag

For our quilt guild meeting this coming Thursday, we are having a quilted name tag challenge.  Here is what I whipped up tonight, using this tutorial loosely, for my name tag.  This was my first time attempting machine sewn binding, I am a hand sew kinda girl, and I'm not sure I liked it.  I feel like you can see all my little oopsies!  But in spite of that....I LOVE IT!

Isn't a cutie? It's about 3.5 just to figure how to make it a name tag so I can wear it.  Any ideas??

Catching up on blocks

I'm all caught up with my blocks now, thank goodness! Feeling guilty for being behind was a terrible thing!  Here are some pictures of the latest blocks I mailed out.  I still have blocks this month to make, and am determined to stay on the ball!

For Block Swap Adventure - Nov.

For Lets Bee Together - Nov.  We paper pieced the HST's.  Was fun!

For Orange You Glad Bee - Nov.  Was a step out of my comfort zone.  Hope she likes em!
