I swear I've been productive!!

I have been productive, I just haven't blogged!  School and work and sewing take up my time, and I'm okay with that.  I will just blog less, but still blog when I can.  I like to jot some memories on the blog :)

I made fabric bowls for both my mother in law (MIL) and sister in law(SIL).  The teal and brown one is for my MIL, the green and purple one is for my SIL.  They both have the baskets, and both enjoyed them.  They weren't hard to make, once I got the hang of them and got the directions right.  I would make this again.  It's from a book called "fast, fun and easy fabric bowls".  Very cool.

My mother was in town recently, and I made her a table runner and makeup bag while she was here.  We went fabric shopping, and she got to pick out exactly what she wanted - which made it that much more fun!  Here is the table runner:

Here is my April Stash Bee -  Hive 2 Fractured Block.  I cut this one right down to the wire :S  I am mailing it tomorrow, which is still April, but feel bad I'm so slow!  At least I got it done and mailed in April. :D  Good news that.  Hehe.  Except for pressing the seams open, I really enjoyed the block.  It didn't take too long to come together, and the hubby lovingly helped with the seams :)  Kudos to him!!

So there - April was productive.  I also have a quilt I am finishing up - just have to hand sew the binding on, which I have one side done.  It's lovely, and I want it for myself - but know the recipient will love it, so that's good.  When that's finished and gifted I will post pictures.  I've taken a lot on my phone, but will take some with my camera also :)

Hope April has found you all well!!!

Fabriholics Anonymous March Check In

So..I haven't purchased any fabric this month (or Jan or Feb either).  I am SO happy! This means that I've been sticking to my goals.  I have been working slowly, and I mean slowly, on projects I have now.  Some I am realizing I truly do NOT love - but will finish them and gift them or try and sell them.  They are pretty, just not for me.

I am, however, in dire need of white and white on white fabric, so I might have to buy some in April.  I need it to do blocks for my bee month coming up! Eek! It kills me that I will have to buy fabric, but...what must be done must be done ;)

So far I am happy with my lack of purchases.  Makes me happy to use up stuff in my stash.  Then, after my fast, I can purchase a whole new stash!!!

Secret Things and Sunday School

So...I do have sewing I'm doing/working on...just nothing I can show! I think my March ALYoF goal will be out the window...but I will get my other project done.  This has a March deadline also...it's one or the other I'm afraid.  Priorities!

I'm also trying to keep my flickr account more active, with pictures of what I'm working on, my design wall, etc.  But my secret project will not even be posted there until "the great reveal" LOL.  The best part - I am working on it with a good friend, and we are enjoying the bonding time.  Isn't it great to sew/quilt with friends??

In completely random news - I taught the Sunday School lesson for the 3 year old "Sunbeams" at church last week - we were thankful for plants, trees and flowers.  It went okay (I had a little extra time so we sang songs and played a game), but I think the kids are starting to absorb what we say.  I showed them a picture of Jesus when he was a baby, and they remembered what it was about! It's the little things that make me happy.  Oh, and them singing.  Precious moments! :D  Big thanks to my sister for being my backup last week.  She rocked it!

Pillow Time!

Last year in Stash Bee, I had some lovely xplus blocks come my way.  I chose to have them increase the measurements to I had bigger blocks than the above tutorial.  I had an "extra" one that matched my decor  perfectly, so I decided to make it a little bigger and toss a pillow form into it. I have to say, I love love love it!  It matches so well, and it brightens up the space.  Pillows are so fun!

It even matches Hubby's Van Gogh quilt! :D

It has an envelope back, just incase it or the pillow need a good washing.

March ALYoF

So I'm being brave and setting a goal to finish by the end of March! AH!
I want to piece this quilt top:

I still have a few straggler blocks to make, and then trimming and sewing it all together (Not all blocks are pictured here).

It will be gorgeous all together! Just have to play with a layout...

Wish me luck! :D

Here is my January block for Stash Bee

Here are my February blocks for Stash Bee

It was nice to be able to carve some sewing time today.  Life has been CRAZY in my part of the world.  And cold...very very cold. :)

2014 FAL Quarter 1

Okay, so, let's be honest - if you follow me you know I have a HUGE list of projects to finish this year.  But in reality, I will only be able to finish some each quarter of the year.  So with that in mind, I am going to join the Finish Along at The Littlest Thistle.

Here are the projects I think/hope I can finish:

This BOM has been sitting a while.  My MIL is now asking about it for her bed...  Oopsie!

This one I wanted to finish for LAST year.  Sigh

Supernova...I love these blocks..Not sure why I couldn't get them done!

There.  3 goals.  If I complete more, I will be so happy.  If I just get some progress on these, I will be happy.  Let's see if I can make some quilts! :D
